SEF Ambassador Wins the Total 24 Hours of Spa

The 70th edition of the Total 24 hours of Spa once again had a mega grid of 63 cars, with a total of 221 drivers, the foundation had 14 Ambassadors taking part (Christian Engelhart, Andy Meyrick, Jules Szymkowiak, Phil Keen, Jeroen Bleekemolen, Alex Riberas, Earl Bamber, Ben Barnicoat, Arron Scott, Rene Rast, Jeffery Schmidt, Luca Stolz, Maro Engel, Phillip Eng) as always in this annual event the race was hectic with 12 safety cars and 13 full course yellow’s, and unfortunately a red flag which involved SEF Ambassador Andy Meyrick in the Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental GT3 #Car 31 and the #Car 666 Attempto Racing Lamborghini driven by Jurgen Krebs, just before the eleven-hour mark. Both drivers remained in hospital for a time under observation, however, neither suffered life-threatening injuries, and have since returned home, the race was restarted at 4.50 on Sunday morning. Five cars finished on the lead lap at this year’s race, one fewer than in 2017 but nevertheless the second-highest number since the Total 24 Hours of Spa became part of the Blancpain GT Series in 2011, 6 manufacturers finished among the top-10 at this year’s Total 24 Hours of Spa, with car #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 scoring a truly memorable victory thanks to a superb team effort from the German squad and its driver trio of Philipp Eng, (SEF Ambassador)Tom Blomqvist, Christian Krognes.
