Biography

Sean Lawrence Edwards was born December 6, 1986, a racer. The son of former F1 driver Guy Edwards and Daphne McKinley began karting competition at 11-years-old and quickly established a reputation for being fast. Over the following 15 years he built an impressive career capped in 2013 with successive wins at Dubai 24 Hours and the Nürburgring 24 Hours. At the time of his death Sean was also leading the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup standings by 18 points with just a final round remaining.

His exceptional ability on the track earned him accolades and praise—but it was his integrity and comradery off it that won him the respect and admiration of his peers. Sean loved racing for its own sake and was generous in sharing his experience and insight with fellow drivers. It’s the combination of these traits that made Sean such a popular and admired person in the motor racing world, a great friend and credit to his family.

“When you’re racing, it’s life. Anything that happens before or after, it’s just waiting.”
